The Toronto Inline Skating Club is ready to welcome Canadian skaters to race at the Canadian Championships on June 28-29 n Toronto and the Canada Day Marathon on July 1st in Cambridge.
On the women’s side, the trio of Olympic short track medalist Valerie Maltais, Pan Am Games racer Morgane Echardour, and Shannon Hegarty are expected to give spectators exciting races to cheer for!
On the men’s side, Nicolas Laborde (Colombia) and Chris Fiola should provide a lot of dust for their competition to chase!
The Speed Committee will also hold its Annual Meeting tomorrow night.
There will be an inline skating event in Edmonton on July 1st. Details can be found at the link below. It will be a 25 to 30min race. The course is smooth 1.1km loop
“You may be required to sign a waiver form. When you arrive on site, look for INFRONT INLINE SPEED SKATING members: Dayton, Ivan, Sid, Glenn (see the picture). HELMET and WRIST GUARDS are required. All skaters must be there by 12:15pm. All skaters must demonstrate a left and a right turn, and show an ability to stop. There will be a Safety meeting at 1:00pm before the race. Skaters MUST attend this in order to participate”

Two Events, One Trip: Canadian Champs & Canada Day Marathon
The Toronto Inline Skating Club is pleased to host the 2014 Canadian Championships on June 28-29 in Toronto. This event will be followed closely by the Canada Day Marathon on July 1st in Cambridge. With a mix of young and fast racers, the return to action of a few experienced racers, and updated rules that allow for age class and ability group racing, racing at the Canadian Championships will be very exciting! Skaters from across Canada are invited to compete in both the Canadian Championships and Canada Day Marathon. Skaters will be able to make one trip participate at both the Canadian Championships and the Canada Day Marathon.
Please note that skaters need to be registered with RSC in order to be eligible to participate in the Canadian Championships. Registration deadline for the Canadian Championships is June 25th at 10pm. Canada Day Marathon entry fees increase by $10 June 23rd 10am. Workshop on Rules: June 26th in Toronto
Roller Sports Canada will hold a workshop on the Rules for RSC Speed on June 26th, 2014. The workshop will run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
The workshop will be held in Toronto at Humber Lakeshore Campus- 3199 Lake Shore Boulevard West., Toronto, Ontario, M8V 1K8, class B117 (44).
Attendance is free for all RSC registrants as well as volunteers and officials. Light snacks and refreshments will be offered.
The plan is to provide an overview of the Rules for RSC Speed, a review of the CIC rules, and to deal with questions and concerns about officiating and running a competition. There will also be time to view competition footage as well as having a Q&A session. The meeting room has been booked until 10pm if workshop participants wish to have more intensive discussions.

Deux Évènements, un Voyage: Championnats Canadiens, Marathon de la Fête du Canada
Le Toronto Inline Skating Club est heureux d’accueillir les Championnats Canadiens de 2014 le 28-29 juin. Cet événement sera suivi par le Marathon de la Fête du Canada le 1er juillet à Cambridge. Le mélange de coureurs jeunes et rapides, avec le retour à l’action de quelques coureurs expérimentés, combiné avec des changements de règles assurera des courses très excitantes aux Championnats Canadiens! Les patineurs de tout les coins du Canada sont invités à participer aux deux évènements. Les patineurs pourront faire seulement un voyage pour participer aux deux évènements!

Atelier sur les Règles: 26 juin à Toronto
Roller Sports Canada tiendra un atelier sur les Règles de Vitesse Pour RSC le 26 juin 2014. L’atelier aura lieu de 17:30h – 20:30h.
L’atelier se tiendra à Toronto, au Humber Lakeshore Campus – 3199 Lake Shore Boulevard West., Toronto, Ontario, M8V 1K8, classe B117 (44).
La participation est gratuite pour ceux inscrits avec RSC ainsi que pour les bénévoles et les officiels. Des collations et des rafraîchissements seront offerts.
Le plan est de fournir un aperçu des Règles de Vitesse Pour RSC, une révision des règles du CIC, et pour répondre aux questions pour officiels. Il y aura aussi le temps de voir des vidéos et d’avoir une discussion. La salle de réunion a été réservé jusqu’à 22h en cas que les participants de l’atelier souhaitent avoir des discussions plus approfondies.

Roller Sports Canada recently underwent fundamental changes by adopting a set of by-laws in order to be in compliance with Government of Canada’s requirements for Not-for-Profit Corporations. RSC held an Annual Meeting on June 8th where Members, which are defined as Clubs and Leagues, voted in a Board of Directors. Tyler Congdon was selected as the President of RSC and Simon Clement was selected as VP Speed.
Roller Sports Canada manages the disciplines of Roller Figure, Roller Derby, and Roller Speed. RSC is the entity that delegates the rights and the permission to the Speed Committee to manage Roller Speed on its behalf. Management of Roller Speed for RSC includes maintaining the Rules for RSC Speed, being responsible for holding National Championships, setting up a process to select athletes to represent RSC, and to plan for the development of Roller Speed Skating.
The Speed Committee, which manages Roller Speed on behalf of RSC, is staffed by volunteers who are voted in at the Speed Committee’s Annual Meeting. This year, the Speed Committee’s Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Humber College (Lake Shore Campus) in Toronto at 6pm. The meeting is in conjunction with the Canadian Championships in Toronto on June 28-29.
At this year’s Annual Meeting, RSC Registrants (individuals) with Speed are invited to attend and will be asked to vote for two positions on the Speed Committee. These positions’ length will be 2-year terms. This is an opportunity for RSC Registrants to become formally involved with the Speed Committee as an RSC Speed Director. The RSC Speed Committee would like to hear from you if you’re willing to offer help, give your time, and work as a team member.

RSC’s Speed Committee typically meets every 2-3 weeks for meetings that can last 3-hours in length. Speed Committee members handle numerous issues between meetings. For example, the Speed Committee completed a deep review of the Rules for RSC Speed, received and dealt with last-minute notifications to submit entries for Pan Am Championships and the Pan Am Festival, handled and expanded communications to Speed Registrants including offering communications and documents in English and French, initiated the foundation for coach and official training and certification, and is in the process of creating a budget for Speed which will be forwarded to the RSC Board for approval.

Roller Sports Canada a récemment subi des changements importants en adoptant un ensemble de règles générales afin d’être en conformité avec le gouvernement du Canada pour organisations a buts non-lucratis. RSC a tenu une assemblée générale le 8 juin dernier où les membres, qui sont définis comme clubs et ligues, ont voté pour un conseil administratif. Tyler Congdon a été choisi comme président de RSC et Simon Clément a été choisi comme vice-président du volet vitesse.
Roller Sports Canada gère les disciplines du roller artistique, roller derby, et roller vitesse. RSC est l’entité qui délègue les droits et l’autorisation au Comité Vitesse de gérer le roller vitesse en son nom. La gestion inlcue la mise-a-jour des règles de RSC vitesse, la responsabilité des championnats nationaux, la sélection des athlètes pour représenter RSC, et planifier le développement du roller vitesse.
Le Comité vitesse, qui gère le roller vitesse au nom de RSC, est composé de volontaires qui ont été selection grâce a un vote à la réunion annuelle du Comité Vitesse. Cette année, la réunion annuelle du Comité Vitesse aura lieu le samedi 28 juin au Humber College (Campus Lake Shore) à Toronto, à 18 heures. La réunion est en conjonction avec les Championnats canadiens à Toronto qui auront lieur le 28-29 juin.
Lors de l’assemblée annuelle de cette année, ceux inscris avec RSC (les individuels) avec vitesse sont invités à assister et seront invités à voter pour deux postes pour le Comité vitesse. La longueur de ces postes sera un mandat de 2 ans.

Le Comité Vitesse de RSC se réunit généralement tous les 2-3 semaines pour des réunions qui peuvent durer 3 heures en longueur. Les membres du Comité Vitesse gérent de nombreux itèmes durant et entre les réunions. Par exemple, le Comité Vitesse a offer des changements aux règles de Vitesse RSC, reçu et traité les notifications de dernière minute pour soumettre des candidatures pour les Championnats Panaméricains et le Festival Pan Am, a offer plus de communications et a publié plusieurs documents en français et Anglais, a commencé les preparations pour development pour entraîneur et la formation pour officiels, et est présentement dans le processus de création d’un budget pour le roller vitesse qui sera transmis à la direction de RSC pour approbation.

Volunteer tasks could include preparing the field of play, athlete services, and other tasks related to the running of the Roller Speed Skating event. We’ll do our best to keep you involved in Roller Speed events when you enter the code SPTRS.

Roller Sports Canada is pleased to announce the following athletes will represent Canada at the Pan Am Festival this July in Mexico:
The athletes were selected from a selection competition held May 17 near Montreal. Simon Clement will also be attending as coach in order to offer support for the athletes.
The Pan American Festival organized and sponsored by the Pan American Sports Organization features many sports that are on the Pan American Games program. Speed athletes will participate in clinics from July 12th to the 14th followed by the competition from July 16th to 19th.

Roller Sports Canada est heureux d’annoncer les athlètes suivants représenteront le Canada au Festival Pan Am ce juillet au Mexique:
Les athlètes ont été sélectionnés a une compétition de sélection qui a eu lieu le 17 mai dernier près de Montréal. Simon Clement assistera comme d’entraîneur avec le but d’offrir du soutien pour les athlètes.
Le Festival Pan Am est organisé par le PASO. Ce festival offre des compétitions pour les sports qui sont sur le programme des Jeux Panaméricains 2015. Les athlètes de vitesse participeront à des cliniques du 12 au 14 juillet suivi d’une compétition qui aura lieu du 16 au 19 juillet.
As Chairman of the CIPA Committee l have decided to take out the first tune of Paso Doble (No.19 on the official music disc), Senior Solo Dance, and use tunes 2 and 3 only in the forthcoming World Artistic Solo Dance Championships.
Can all Federations please advise their Clubs and Trainers of this urgently, as l want to make sure that all skaters are comfortable with the music for 2014, and as this piece of music has caused concern in many areas, it will not be used by CIPA in the Senior World Artistic Championships to be held in Reus, Spain.
