Roller Sports Canada’s Speed Committee is now accepting applications for entry to the 2014 Pan American Championships. This competition is a closed competition, meaning participating National Federations determine the athletes that will compete. It is set to take place in Florida in January 2014. Nations (not individual athletes) will qualify through this competition to the Pan American Games. The full program and details on the competition will be posted at http://rollersports.ca and on RSC Speed’s facebook page as soon as it is made available to the Speed Committee.

Canada’s Pan Am Games Status: Because Canada is hosting the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, two spots for women and two spots for men have been reserved for Canadian athletes.

Selection: Roller Sports Canada’s Speed Committee will evaluate all eligible entries and will make a selection based on results at RSC Canadian Outdoor Championships, CIC World Championships, Provincial level events, and other relevant competitive events such as track races, indoors race and road events. Successful applicants will be contacted and guided through for additional preparatory steps. Once members are confirmed to the Canadian Team for the 2014 Pan American Championships, a bulletin naming the Canadian Team will be published by RSC Speed.

Qualification for Toronto 2015 Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games: The 2014 Pan American Championships only serve to qualify Nations to the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games. RSC will hold a separate qualification event/ trials, which will serve to qualify individual athletes for RSC’s entries for the roller speed skating competition at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am/ Parapan Am Games.

Junior Skaters: The Comité International de Course (CIC) will NOT allow Junior aged skaters (15-19 on December 31st on the year of the competition) who compete in these Pan American Championships to compete at the Junior level in subsequent World Championship and Continental events.

RSC Registrants Only: Only applications from current RSC registrants will be accepted. In order to compete, skaters will be required to have their 2014 registration completed prior to the competition. To register with RSC, please visit https://rollersports.ca/online-forms/
