Maraton Sierpniowy In Poland
The Polish Federation of Roller-Skating is inviting skaters to participate in Maraton Sierpniowy– a roller speed skating marathon taking place place on August 28, 2009 in Gdansk- a charming summer resort on the Baltic Sea.
The ambition is to organise the event at the highest international level– both for professional inline skaters as well as for all other categories of the inline and classical rollerskate fans.
The participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy several very attractive accompanying events to be held on the marathon day and on the day after.

RIP Mom Chaplin
This is a short message to say to those of you who knew Mom Chaplin, of the Chaplin Family in London, Ontario, who were involved in Roller Skating for many years in that city, has passed away.
Mrs. Chaplin passed away in London, Ontario, last Sunday morning. She was cremated and there will be a Memorial Service this Saturday

The Chaplin family promoted Roller Skating from the early sixties out of the London arena- the London Skateland on Dundas Street east of Clarke Road and another roller rink located on First Street. Doug continues the family tradition by running the roller skating sessions and lessons at the North London Optimists Community Centre.
Sincere sympathy is extended to her son Doug Chaplin, relatives, and friends.

The 2009 World OutGames are taking place in Copenhagen from July 25th to August 2nd.

Freestyle World Cup In Las Palmas De Gran Canaria, Spain
The Skate Club Las Palmas Patina has the pleasure of announcing the celebration of the first stage of the Freestyle World Cup Las Palmas 2009 which will take place on the 16th and 17th May in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital of Gran Canaria, Spain.
Fans of this style will have the opportunity to get to know and also compete with the best skaters from this discipline at a world level. FIRS President Sabatino Aracu Confirmed In Rome
Roller Sports Canada’s Wayne Burrett was recently in Rome for the important vote to confirm FIRS‘ president from 2009 to 2012. Italy’s Sabatino Aracu was voted in as FIRS‘ president with 125 voteswhile Colombia’s Carlos Orlando Ferreira Pinzón obtained 48 votes.
