Canadian Duo Top North American Series, Duo Canadien Gagnent Serie Nord Americaine

Montreal’s Chris Fiola and Mississauga’s Morgane Echardour finished in top position in the NROC– North America’s top marathon series- for 2012.

Fiola’s secured his first ever NROC title by placing 3rd at the recent New York 100km race. The 100km race featured a show-down between Fiola, world medalist Justin Stelly and top North American marathon skater David Sarmiento. Fiola looked poised for victory with 15km to go in the race, but after getting caught in the closing lap, he had to sort out his finish and eventual NROC title in the sprint finish.

Morgane Echadour’s NROC title is her third title in the last 4 years. Echardour, who showed good speed at the Canadian Championships earlier this year in Quebec City and Laval, finished in the sprint finish at the recent Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth, MN. Echardour wasn’t able to complete the 100km race, but secured enough NROC points earlier in the season in key races in Cambridge, Chicago, Montreal (two events) and Duluth, MN.

Chris Fiola de Montréal et Morgane Echardour de Mississauga ont terminé en première position pour 2012 dans la série de course NROC– la meilleure série de marathon de l’Amérique du nord.

Fiola a obtenu son premier titre NROC en terminant en 3ème position dans le 100km récent de New York. La course de 100km à mis en vedette un show entre Fiola, l’Américain Justin Stelly médaillé aux championnats du monde et le patineur David Sarmiento- un des plus forts au marathon. Chris Fiola a ramassé sa victoire NROC et son podium dans le 100km dans une arrivée de sprint final.

Morgane Echadour a ramassé son troisième titre NROC dans les 4 dernières années. Echardour, qui a montré  bonne forme aux championnat canadien plus tôt cette année à Québec et à Laval, a fini entre les meilleures dans le sprint final lors du récent Marathon Northshore à Duluth, MN. Echardour n’a pas pu terminer la course de 100 km, mais elle a obtenue suffisamment de points NROC plus tôt dans la saison grace aux courses à Cambridge, Chicago, Montréal (deux épreuves) et Duluth, au Minnesota.

New 2013 Membership Forms Now Available

New skaters registering effective October 1 will be 2013 members and their membership will expire on December 31, 2013. New 2013 forms should be used to register these skaters as well as starting a new Membership List for 2013 which is added to as new skaters join or current skaters renew on January 1, 2013.

Les nouveux membres qui joignent à partir du 1ier octobre 2012 auront leur licence qui se termine le 31 décembre 2013. Les nouveux formulaires devraient être utulisés pour les nouvelles licences ainsi que commencer un nouveau fichier de membres pour 2013 qui contient tout les membres- nouveaux et ceux qui renouvellent.

Montreal’s Chris Fiola finished 3rd in the Men’s Elite Open race at the Northshore Inline Marathon (NSIM) last weekend. Morgane Echardour from Mississauga finished 6th in the women’s ‘Elite Open’.

The NSIM, held annually in Duluth, MN, is North America’s largest inline skating marathon.

Chris Fiola de Montréal à fini 3ième dans la catégorie ‘Elite Open’ au Marathon Northshore Inline (NSIM) la fin de semaine dernière. Morgane Echardour de Mississauga s’est classée 6ieme dans le rang général des femmes ‘Elite Open’.

Le NSIM, un marathon annuel qui a lieu a Duluth, MN, est le plus grand marathon en amérique du nord.

World Roller Speed Skating Championships Begin Tomorrow, Championnats du Monde de Vitesse Roller Debutent Demain

On behalf of the Canadian skating community, RSC would like to extend the best wishes for great performances to all Canadian skaters, delegates and coaches who have the honour of competing for and representing Canada at the 2012 World Roller Speed Skating Championship in Italy. The competition opens tomorrow.

Roller sports set for IOC evaluation in Italy ahead of 2020 Olympic bid

September 6 – The International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS) is set for its key inspection from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the evaluation event for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games will be the World Speed Skating Championships, which start tomorrow.

Roller sport is one of seven sports bidding to make the 2020 Olympic programme alongside climbing, karate, squash, wakeboard, wushu, baseball and softball, with the latter two likely to make a joint bid.

24 Hours Roller Montreal: Cette Fin de Semaine, This Weekend

The 24 Hours Roller Montreal is set for this weekend. Skaters will enjoy sprint races tomorrow (Saturday) and the 24-hour will kick off on Sunday at 1pm and conclude Monday at 1pm!

Le 24 Heures Roller Montreal aura lieu en fin de semaine. Les patineurs auront l’opportunité de profiter des courses sprint demain (samedi) et le 24h commencera dimanche à 13h et terminera à 13h lundi.
