2011 Canadian Outdoor Speed Championships a Success!

The 2001 Canadian Outdoor Speed Championships held in Harriston, Ontario, were a success. The event mostly drew skaters from Montreal and Toronto.

Youth divisions (Juvenile, Freshmen, and Junior) had good numbers, with skaters racing well, along the way setting records, showing speed has a promising future. Among those showing promise are Christopher Fiola (CPVRAM), Amanda Tickner (TISC), Paisley Perrie (NRS), and Juan Diego Zuluaga (CPVRAM).

In the Senior Women’s division, Morgane Echardour and Martine Charbonneau stamped their names on Pan American Games slots. Echardour did so by winning three races on day 1, while Charbonneau and TISC’s Shannon Hegarty traded wins on day 2.

On the Senior Men’s side, TISC’s Jade Pauley won four of five races, while club-mate Peter Doucet claimed the 10km points/ elimination title.
