Calgary Skater attends the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports – Junior World Roller Figure Skating Championships in Taiwan

When Natasha Bogucki rolled out onto the smooth wooden floor November 4th for the 2013 World Roller Figure Skating Championships, she was thrilled to share the rink with over 600 competitors from 23 different countries.

As the 2013 Canadian National Artistic Roller Sports Champion, she and her coach, Lloyd Williams, traveled to Taipai, Taiwan to participate in this important event. To prepare, Natasha practiced up to 12 hours per week this past year with Lloyd and her other coach Kim Argento. She skates as a member of the Calgary Artistic Roller Sports Club in Calgary, while working at Lloyds Recreation (no relation to coach Williams) and studies fulltime at university.

Natasha’s specific event is Junior World Class Women’s Figures. In Taipei, she skated four different figure components and placed 15th out of 24 competitors. The young women she skated against hailed from such countries as Italy, Argentina, Brazil, USA, Australia and others.

This was Natasha’s first time competing at Worlds and I wondered how she felt to have achieved her goal of participating at this major event. Natasha says she was proud to represent Canada, but was very nervous. “I did not want to let down my coaches or my family who have worked so hard with me. Truthfully, I am a bit disappointed in my performance because I made a few mistakes that cost me a higher placement, but I am hopeful that I learned from the experience and will be able to do better next time. I appreciate the support that Roller Sports Canada and Lloyds Recreation provided to me. It was an experience that I will never forget.”

After taking a well-deserved break, Natasha plans to strap on her skates again and prepare for Worlds next year to be held in Reus, Spain.

RSC Speed: Early Fall News RSC Vitesse: Nouvelles d’Automne

Website Outage, Online Registration
RSC’s website, rollersports.ca/ , will soon be undergoing a redesign. As a result, the website will be offline October 19th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Speed Committee recently learned that registration to RSC will be available via a new registration process online. There will be a change in terminology accompanying the updated registration process. Clubs signing-up with RSC will be called Members while individuals signing-up with RSC will be call Registrants.

2014 Pan American Championships- January, Florida
Roller Sports Canada was recently notified that the Pan American Championships will take place January 23rd to the 27th at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City, Florida. This competition serves to qualify Nations for the Pan American Games that follow the Championships; in this case, the 2015 Pan American Games which will take place in Toronto in July, 2015. We have no information about the registration process. Information will be published as soon as it is communicated to us.

2014 Canadian Championships
One of the many projects the RSC Speed Committee is working on is planning the 2014 Canadian Championships. We are currently looking at two possible host Provinces for the Championships for late-June or July. The possible host Provinces include Quebec and Ontario (Toronto). We have made contact with possible organizers in Quebec, exploring the feasibility. The Toronto Inline Skating Club has also shown its willingness to host the competition. Once we have secured a host, we will publish all the relevant information as it is finalized.

Site RSC Hors-Ligne, Inscription En Ligne
Le site web RSC, rollersports.ca , sera hors-ligne samedi le 12 octobre de 10h à 20h en raison d’une mise-à-jour.

Un nouveau processus d’inscription sera disponible pour RSC. Le Comité Vitesse a récemment appris que l’inscription pour RSC sera disponible en ligne. Il y aura un changement de terminologie qui va accompagner le processus d’enregistrement. Les Clubs qui s’inscrivent avec RSC seront appelés Membres tandis que les individus qui s’inscrivent avec RSC seront appelés Personne Inscrite.

Championnats Pan Américains 2014- Janvier, Floride
RSC a récemment été informé que des Championnats Pan Américains auront lieu du 23 au 27 Janvier à Brian Piccolo Brian Park à Cooper City, en Floride. Cette compétition sert à qualifier les Pays pour les Jeux Pan Américains qui suivent ce championnat. Dans ce cas, les Jeux panaméricains de 2015 qui auront lieu à Toronto en Juillet 2015. Pour l’instant, nous avons aucune information sur le processus d’inscription. L’information sera publié dès qu’elle nous est communiquée.

Championnats Canadiens 2014
L’un des nombreux projets du Comité Vitesse de RSC est la planification des Championnats Canadiens 2014. Il y a deux provinces possibles pour acceuilir les Championnats en fin juin ou juillet 2014. Ces Provinces incluent le Québec et l’Ontario. Nous avons fait contact avec des organisateurs possibles au Québec et sommes en discussion pour étudier la faisabilité. Le Toronto Inline Skating Club a également montré sa volonté d’accueillir la compétition. Une fois que nous avons obtenu un hôte, nous publierons toutes les informations pertinentes au fur et a mesure.

Calendrier d’événements 2014

S’il vous plaît, laissez-nous savoir si nous pouvons aider votre événement pour y assurer son succès! RSC offre aux Clubs qui sont membres des sanctions de courses (ce qui comprend de l’assurance), des contacts pour les arbitres, de la promotion via un réseau de communication en expansion et du soutien venant d’organisateurs d’événements.

C’est le temps de la rentrée du patinage à roues alignées avec VRL. En effet demain soir recommencent les cours pour l’apprentissage ou le perfectionnement du patinage à roues alignée pour tous à tout âge (volet familial – dont les cours pour jeunes enfants à partir de 4 ans et les 3 niveaux de cours récréatifs pour adultes). On ne peut plus les appeler les cours du samedi, car ils sont maintenant le jeudi soir de 18h30 à 19h30 au TAZ à Montréal.

7th World Freestyle Skating Championships 2013, Taipei City

I am pleased to anounce the 7th World Freestyle Skating Championships 2013, Taipei City. This year we have extended to 4 days competitions from 5th to 8th Nov 2013. Beside the prestige championship, WSSA is organizing its annual WSSA in-house Special Award Party on the last day of the competition and may all athletes and officials please do stay back for this awesome gathering.

I have attached 2 files for your reference. To make the event successful and provide more times for the preparation, I appreciate your early submission for the registration. Morgane Echardour Set to Race at Speed World Champs in Belgium, Morgane Echardour Prete A Courser Aux Championnats Mondiaux en Belgique

Good luck to Morgane Echardour, representing Canada at this years World Championshpis in Oostende, Belgium. She begins the competition tomorrow morning with the 300m time trial.

Le 24h Roller Montréal fête ses 10 ans

The Montreal 24 Hours will take place this weekend. Hundreds will attend the annual event, a 24 hour relay held on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Montreal’s Ile Ste-Hélène.

Le 24h Roller Montreal aura lieu en fin de semaine. Des centaines de patineurs participeront aux 24h, un relais de 24h sur le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve sur l’Ile Ste-Hélène.

Pour une dixième année, des centaines de participants enfileront leurs patins à roulettes et se lanceront, le 23 août, dans une course à relais d’une durée de 24 heures sur le circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

«L’ambiance est extraordinaire, affirme le directeur général du 24h Roller Montréal, Simon Clément. Il y a une personne par équipe qui patine, pendant que les autres font la fête dans la zone de relais ou dans les paddocks. Tout le monde encourage tout le monde.»
